Call
Curators and artists Alex Hetherington and Janie Nicoll, are posting a
call for short video work for a screening event during the Big in
Falkirk events, May 3 and 4th, 2008, Falkirk, Scotland, UK.
The works need to be silent due to the nature of the screening and under
5 minutes. Acceptable formats: DVD and preferably with a high resolution
Quicktime file also on DVD. (PAL or NTSC)
There is no specific theme, though the work will be public and addressed
at a specific audience, so material sensitive to a public, general
audience, made up of in this instance of seniors. It is a kind of secret
installation. Experimental, non-narrative, challenging, vivid video work
would be most welcome. We are also interested in work that uses themes
from American culture, subculture and politics. Work can come from any
period and we also welcome found footage, animation, etc. Remember the
work has to be without sound, so work with text is very welcome. Pass
this call onto interested parties.
Big in Falkirk is a music and theater/visual art event that occurs
annually in Callendar Park. Alex Hetherington and Janie Nicoll will be
programming events during a year-long residency and presenting a new
body of work at the park gallery in May and also at a cinema space in
November 2008, so please forward other work to be included in a diverse
range of events and screenings. We will be posting further calls.
Materials will be included in a catalog/magazine that we are publishing
to coincide with the residency.
Pass on to other artists etc.
